2012 Holiday Toy Drive Wraps Up

Hope on the Hill Guild just wrapped up our 4th annual Holiday Giving Drive for patients at Seattle Children's Hospital.  Our final total of items for the Autism Center was 303 and then there were 25 gift cards for Operation Home.

This year, Hope on the Hill Guild made a special effort to focus on patients of the Autism Center. Launched in 2009, this center is dedicated to providing comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, treatment and support services for families living with autism.

Collection of new, unwrapped toys for patients of the Autism Center started November 18th and went until December 24th, 2012.

Our guild collected items such as art supplies (paint, clay, and jewelry making kits), toy automobiles (cars, racetracks, and wooden cars), Legos, books, character items, fidget toys, board games, Baby Dolls, & Nerf balls.  All specific items are included on the Autism Wish List.

This year we have two drop locations in Issaquah that are set up as donation centers.  These locations will have marked collection boxes available in their facility during business hours.

GIFT DROP LOCATIONS:

Caffe Ladro: 1200 10th Ave. NE, Issaquah Highlands

Adventure Kids Playcare Issaquah: 775 NW Gilman Blvd., Ste C-3, Issaquah

Last year Hope on the Hill Guild was able to collect over 700 items in our Giving Drive which focused on Seattle Children’s teen patient population.  This year we would love to exceed that number of items for our holiday giving drive!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Erin Michael at emichael@hopeonthehillguild.org or Lizzy Rojas lrojas@hopeonthehillguild.org

Please note: For safety and infection control reasons, please donate only new items that are washable, nontoxic and not easily broken. The hospital is unable to accept used toys or toys that represent violence. Please do not send large metal trucks or toys. Please do not wrap donations.

Our 3rd Annual "Raise the Dough" Raises $2,300

The all-day event was held at Zeeks Pizza and Ben & Jerry’s in the Issaquah Highlands, where 20 percent of the day’s sales were donated to Seattle Children’s for uncompensated care. Dan Connolly provided musical entertainment at Zeeks and generously donated CDs to guests that made cash donations.

Zeeks sold over 300 pizzas, along with Ben & Jerry’s selling over 300 ice cream cones. “I am proud to help raise money for a cause that has always held a special place in my heart. Seattle Children's Hospital saved my life when I was an infant" said Mark Mullet, owner of the Zeeks Pizza and Ben & Jerry's in the Issaquah Highlands.

Hope on the Hill Guild members handed out fliers and waved signs on the street while wearing a Ben & Jerry’s cow costume and a pizza costume. It brought smiles and waves from many people during the evening commute!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported Raise the Dough!
